We are delighted to announce the imminent release of Principal Cornet, Tom Hutchinson’s debut solo CD, entitled ‘In Principal’ from World of Sound. If the quality of Tom’s recording sessions are anything to go by, it’s going to be a real gem.
The track list is an exciting one, full of new solo repertoire and featuring a major new addition in the form of a concerto from Philip Harper.
Musicians like Tom Hutchinson are rare in the world of brass bands. Passionately devoted to his art, I have seen at close quarters Tom’s development over the last three years into surely one of the best cornet players of his generation. With a classic and elegant ‘brass band’ sound and a technique seemingly knowing no limits, Tom also possesses that quality we recognise in all wonderful exponents of their craft – he makes it all look so easy! In short, he is the model Principal Cornet for any brass band, particularly Cory Band, and his debut solo CD In Principal charts the remarkable first stage in his ascent to the pantheon of great cornet players.
