RWCMD Successes!

Fletch+RobCory Band wishes to congratulate both principal Bb Bass player Rob Nicholson and second euphonium player Matthew Fletcher on their recent achievement in successfully completing their undergraduate degrees at RWCMD in Cardiff. Rob, originally from the Isle of Wight, joined the Cory bass team almost as soon as he started college in 2012 and has gone on to develop a reputation as one of the best Bb players in the country, and his degree success is the latest in a number of milestones achieved to date. Matthew, not content with simply the academic success, made two remarkable recent achievements. Having been awarded a First in his Undergraduate studies, Matthew followed this with a successful audition last week for entry to the Royal Marines.

Musical Director Philip Harper commented: “Both Rob and Matthew are exemplary members of Cory Band, totally committed to give of their best on every occasion. They have both been excellent students at the college and fully deserve these two accolades. We are all delighted for them both, as they are now well set up for a good career in music. In Matthew’s case, and unfortunately for Cory, it means he will leave the band in a couple of months, although we look forward to having him on the team for a few more concerts and the British Open in September. In the meantime we are opening applications for a new second euphonium player to work alongside Glyn Williams – the search begins now!”
