Cory Band nominated for National Award

Cory Band has been nominated for a National St David Award, in recognition of its outstanding achievements of 2016 and continuing excellence.

These awards are presented annually by the Welsh government to celebrate exceptional Welsh achievement and, in their own words: “The Awards reflect and promote the aspirations of Wales and its citizens to be a modern, vibrant country, with a growing reputation as a confident and clever nation valuing innovation, community spirit, and above all its people.” The awards are the highest accolades that Welsh Government confers on Welsh citizens and organisations nationally.

Band President Morgan Jones, Trustee Austin Davies and Musical Director Philip Harper attended the prestigious St David Award Launch on Thursday 16 February, where they rubbed shoulders with other nominees across the various categories. There are awards made for Bravery, Citizenship, Culture, Enterprise, Innovation and Sport amongst others, and Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones officially launched the awards before meeting all the nominees.

The winners will be announced on the evening of 23 March. Please visit http://stdavidawards.org.uk/2017-finalists/?lang=en for more information.
